Who We Are
MIG is a group of gastroenterologists with expertise in the endoscopic diagnosis and management of conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract. We provide specialist care for patients with conditions requiring skilled endoscopic examination and treatment.
We offer consultations in our Fitzroy rooms and the Avenue Hospital in Windsor, and via Telehealth. Endoscopic procedures are available at four Melbourne locations: St Vincent’s Private, Epworth Richmond, Epworth Eastern, and The Avenue Hospitals.
Our services include general gastroscopy and colonoscopy, along with advanced endoscopic procedures such as EUS, ERCP, polyp resection, and treatment for GI cancers, motility disorders, and gastrointestinal bleeding.
We are committed to improving patient health outcomes and ensuring prompt, effective communication with patients and referring practitioners.
Our Services
Consultation
Consultations with our doctors can be made by contacting us via email or phone. The initial consultation determines the exact medical issues, investigations required, diagnosis and management. A review appointment after your procedure discusses the results and ongoing management.
Gastroscopy
Gastroscopy (upper GI endoscopy) is a procedure where the doctor inserts a flexible instrument called a gastroscope through the mouth allowing direct inspection of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum (upper small bowel).
Colonoscopy
Colonoscopy (lower GI endoscopy) is a procedure where the doctor inserts a thin, flexible tube called a colonoscope through the rectum to examine the colon, or large intestine. This helps in diagnosing conditions and may allow for treatments, such as removing polyps.
Endoscopic Ultrasound
Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) is a procedure where the doctor inserts a flexible tube, called an echoendoscope, through the mouth to obtain detailed images through the wall of the digestive tract and surrounding organs such as the pancreas and bile duct.
ERCP
ERCP, or Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography, is a procedure where the doctor inserts an endoscope to the first part of the small bowel (duodenum) to examine either the biliary or pancreatic ducts. ERCP is performed to remove stones, take samples and open up blockages (strictures).
Small Bowel Enteroscopy
Small Bowel Enteroscopy is a procedure where the doctor uses a long, flexible tube called a double balloon enteroscope (DBE), inserted through the mouth or rectum, to examine the small intestine. This allows for diagnosis and treatment of conditions within the small bowel, beyond where a gastroscope or colonoscope can reach, such as bleeding lesions or polyps.
Capsule Endoscopy
Capsule Endoscopy is a procedure where the patient swallows a small, pill-sized camera that travels through the digestive tract, capturing images of the small intestine. This allows the doctor to examine areas that are difficult to reach with traditional endoscopy.
Multiple Locations
MIG provides consultations and procedures across multiple accessible locations, ensuring patients have convenient options for receiving high-quality care. Our team is dedicated to delivering excellent service and support at each of our locations.
